What to Do With Your Family Photos: Wall Art, Albums, Cards & More

You had the session, the gallery arrived, and you love the images. Now what?

If you're like most families, those photos end up living in a gallery link or on a phone, where they get looked at a handful of times and then get buried under everything else. As a Tulsa family photographer, this is my favorite part of the process: helping you turn your favorite images into pieces you'll see and enjoy every single day.

Here's a look at the ways your family portraits can live in your home, plus a few ideas for holiday gifting.

Albums: An Heirloom For Your Family

An album is the piece your family will still be flipping through years from now. Instead of scrolling past a hundred images on a screen, you get a curated story of your session, printed and bound so it can be held, shared, and passed down.

Albums are available in 8x8, 10x10, and 12x12, and there's also a 6x6 mini replica of your album, which makes a sweet gift for grandparents who'd love to have their own copy.

Wall Art: Your Favorite Image, Matted & Custom Framed

If you only choose one piece, make it a framed portrait. A single beautiful family photo can anchor an entryway, a stairwell, or the wall above a console table, and it instantly makes a space feel like yours.

Custom-framed wall art comes in variety of sizes, so there's an option for a cozy nook as well as a statement wall. A good rule of thumb: go larger than you think you need. A big portrait feels intentional, while a small one can get lost.

Gallery Walls With Matted Prints

Love the idea of a gallery wall but can't pick just one favorite? Matted 8x10 prints, ready to frame, are a simple way to build one. Mix in portraits from different sessions over the years and your wall becomes a living timeline of your family, growing right along with your kids.

Sets of matted prints are also the easiest gift for grandparents, aunts, and uncles who want a favorite photo of the kids for their own home.

Tabletop Acrylic Frames

Not every photo needs to hang on a wall. Acrylic frames are perfect for a bookshelf, desk, or nightstand, and they come in several styles: a classic 5x7, a double frame, an acrylic frame box, and a triple frame for showcasing a few favorites together.

They're a great option for smaller spaces, for a work desk, or as a thoughtful gift that's easy to wrap and easy to display.

Holiday Cards

Custom-designed cards are a lovely way to share your family photos with the people you love, each made with your images and paired with a white envelope.

If holiday cards are on your list this year, order early so they're in hand well before the season gets busy.

An Ornament

Your favorite family photo can become an ornament for your tree. It's a special way to mark this season of your family's life, and it makes a meaningful gift to tuck under someone else's tree.

You Can Order From Any of Your Sessions

Here's something many families don't realize: for holiday ordering, you can choose from any images you already have from your fall session or from any previous session we've done together. If there's a favorite from a past session that never made it onto your wall, now is a great time to give it a home.

How to Choose What's Right for Your Family

Not sure where to start? Here's a simple way to think about it:

  • Want to preserve the whole story? An album is the way to go.
  • Want something for your home? Start with a framed wall art piece or a gallery wall of matted prints.
  • Want something for a desk or shelf? Choose a tabletop acrylic frame.
  • Shopping for grandparents or family? Matted prints, acrylic frames, a mini replica album, or an ornament are all easy, meaningful gifts.
  • Sending news or greetings? Custom cards are perfect for the holidays.
